Colin Kaepernick’s, the quarterback, who sparked a national conversation when he sat for the national anthem before a preseason game in protest, earned the team’s most prestigious honor Friday, December 30th 2016.

Kaepernick received the Len Eshmont Award, which each year is given to the 49ers’ most courageous and inspirational player.

Some feared Kaepernick’s ongoing, evolving protest would create a divide in San Francisco’s locker room and/or cause friction between the 29-year-old and his teammates.

Clearly there were no issues.
